Meet Nicole van Rensburg

Founder of EmpowerMe Coaching SA | Student Development Coach & Mentor | Workshop Facilitator

I didn’t begin my career as a coach. I began it in the classroom – and long before that, on the stage.

After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Music, I performed professionally while teaching music lessons, where I discovered that what lit me up most was not performance, but helping young people grow in confidence, self-belief, and expression.

That realisation led me into education. After completing my Postgraduate Certificate in Education, I joined Reddford House The Hills in Pretoria as part of the founding staff, teaching subjects including Music, Life Orientation, and Creative Arts. Across every role, my focus remained the same: supporting students to understand themselves, build confidence, and navigate pressure with resilience.

Beyond the Classroom

Through years of working closely with teens and families, I began to notice a consistent gap. While academic content was prioritised, many young people were struggling with emotional regulation, confidence, time management, and decision-making – especially during key transition years.

This gap led me to life coaching. I trained as a certified Life Coach, with additional specialisation in Emotional Intelligence, Confidence Coaching, and NLP, and in 2022 founded EmpowerMe Coaching SA to bring this work beyond the classroom.

The Work I Do Today

Today, I support teens, university students, and families – including those navigating gap years – through coaching, workshops, and guided online programmes designed to build clarity, resilience, and future readiness.

In 2025, I became a GoZen Certified Workshop Facilitator and launched Mapping the Future, an online course guiding Grade 9 learners and their parents through subject choice and early career exploration in a way that strengthens both clarity and connection.

My Vision

I believe growth and resilience are essential life skills. My work is about equipping young people and families with the emotional and practical tools they need to navigate change, make confident decisions, and build a future they feel excited about.

Credentials & Professional Training

I believe trust is built through both experience and ongoing professional development. My work is grounded in formal training, practical application, and a commitment to continuous growth in the fields of emotional intelligence, coaching, and youth development.

The Solopreneur Diary

I document the real journey of building EmpowerMe Coaching SA; the growth, the pivots, the doubts, the lessons, and the quiet wins.

This series began as something for myself and my children one day. Along the way, it has become a space to encourage other solopreneurs who are building something meaningful and learning as they go.

This is what building something meaningful actually looks like.
