Choosing subjects and careers shouldn’t feel this hard.

Help your teen discover their strengths, explore careers, and make confident choices — together.

If you’re a parent of a Grade 8 learner heading into Grade 9 — or your teen is already in Grade 9 — you’re probably starting to feel the pressure of the big choice on the horizon.
Maybe you and your teen haven’t really discussed careers or subject choices at all…
Or perhaps your teen has become distant, and meaningful conversations feel few and far between.
They might shrug and say, “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.”
And you’re left wondering:
  • How do I reconnect or even start this conversation without causing anxiety?
  • What tests should we do?
  • How can we prepare for this big decision before the pressure builds — and risk making the wrong choice out of panic?
You want to support your teen, but you don’t want to push too hard.
You wish someone could just make it all make sense.
You’re not alone — and there is a clear path forward.
That’s exactly why I created Mapping the Future — a step-by-step online course designed to help parents and teens explore strengths, subjects, and careers together.
This isn’t about quick answers or pressure-filled decisions. It’s about slowing down, building connection, and discovering what makes your teen light up — so their choices start coming from clarity, not confusion.
Through short, easy-to-follow video lessons, guided reflections, and practical tools, you’ll work side-by-side to:
  • Understand your teen’s unique strengths and motivators
  • Explore career paths that genuinely align with who they are
  • Choose subjects that keep doors open for their future dreams
Whether you complete it over a week or take it step by step, Mapping the Future gives you a proven process to replace pressure with partnership — and turn uncertainty into confidence.
In just a few hours, you and your teen will go from uncertain and overwhelmed — to feeling clear, connected, and confident about the road ahead.
Instead of arguments, you’ll have meaningful conversations.
Instead of pressure, you’ll build partnership.
And instead of guessing which subjects or careers might fit, you’ll know exactly where your teen’s strengths and interests align.
Because when families explore together, something shifts — confidence grows, stress fades, and the future starts to feel exciting again.
Clear plan. Career shortlist. Real connection.

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I’m Nicole van Rensburg — founder of EmpowerMe Coaching SA, certified Life Coach, and former high-school teacher.
After years of working with students, parents, and teachers, I’ve seen first-hand how much stress and uncertainty surround subject and career decisions. I created Mapping the Future to make that journey easier — and to bring families closer in the process.
My background in education means I understand the school system, the emotional ups and downs, and the pressure teens face to “figure it all out.”
My passion as a coach is helping families build confidence, resilience, and stronger relationships through meaningful conversations — the kind that change futures.
Because when connection comes first, confidence always follows.
Guiding parents and teens with clarity and care.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I have access to the course?
You’ll have full access for one year from the date of purchase — plenty of time to revisit lessons and complete the workbooks at your own pace.

Can we do the course from different locations?
Absolutely. Mapping the Future is fully online and accessible from anywhere. Families who aren’t under one roof can use any video-call app to work through the course together.

Who should complete the course?
The course works beautifully when done by a teen and one or both parents or caregivers. Grandparents, guardians, or mentors are also welcome — it truly takes a village to raise a child.

How can I access the course?
You can access Mapping the Future on any computer or mobile phone. You’ll also receive easy instructions to download it as a web app to your device’s home screen for one-tap access without a browser. After your order is processed, you’ll receive an email with your course access link and simple step-by-step instructions.

Do we need to print the booklets?
Printing is highly recommended. Writing by hand in the Teen Explorer’s Guide and Parent Support Guide deepens reflection and creates a keepsake to look back on.

How long does it take to complete the course?
Most families finish in about a week, but it’s often best done over a few weeks to allow time for reflection, conversation, and research. No rush — go at the pace that suits your family.

Starting in the December holidays of Grade 8 offers a calm, family-focused time to connect. Starting early in Grade 9 allows enough time to finish before the subject-choice rush.

When will I receive access to the course?
Once payment clears, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your login details. Use the same email and password you registered with on the EmpowerMe Coaching SA website to get started.
